How to use

The Fine Dice is a cordless electric food chopper. Four heads share one motor handle: the chopper bowl, the slicing disc, the peeler head and the scrub brush. Here is how each one is used.

Before the first use

Charge the motor handle fully over USB before the first run. While it charges, wash the parts that touch food. The motor handle itself is only ever wiped with a damp cloth.

The chopper bowl

For garlic, onion, shallot, chili, ginger and soft herbs. Cut anything large into rough pieces first and spread them around the blade rather than stacking them on one side. Short pulses give a coarse chop. Holding it takes the same load to a fine mince. The bowl is clear, so watch the chop and stop when it looks right instead of guessing.

The slicing disc

For carrot, cucumber and potato. The disc has its own bowl and the slices collect in it. Cut anything too large down first, and work in batches rather than overfilling the bowl.

The peeler head

For potatoes, carrots and apples. Wash and dry them first so they do not slip. Work along the length rather than around, and turn as you go. Keep your fingers clear of the head while the motor is running.

The scrub brush

For root vegetables under running water. Hold the vegetable in the stream and the brush against it, and keep the motor handle out of the water.

Swapping heads

The blade is sharp. Stop the motor and empty the bowl before you change from one head to another, and keep fingers clear of the blade while you lift it out.

Cleaning

Every part that touches food lifts out to wash:

  • Chopper bowl and blade
  • Slicing disc and its bowl
  • Peeler head
  • Scrub brush head

There is a cleaning tool in the box for the tight corners. The motor unit wipes with a damp cloth and must never go under the tap. Dry everything before you put it back together.

Looking after it

Store the blade inside the chopper bowl rather than loose in a drawer. Charge over USB between sessions so it is ready when you need it, and give it a full charge before a big batch of prep. Cutting large items into rough pieces first is easier on the blade than forcing a whole onion in.
